This is the place for all those common questions, and a bit more info on how we run our shop.
New Projects
What information should I include in my custom art request?
Please give me as much information as you can on the scope of the project. Send as many high quality reference images for portrait requests. Let me know if you are trying to stick to a certain budget. If it is required by a certain date.
What do you charge?
Every project is totally unique, please contact me with your project details to receive your quote. The more information I have, the more accurate the quote will be.
Do you design tattoos?
Yes I do, but I am pretty specific to the types of tattoos I will design. Take a look at your local tattoo artists as well to see who you'd like to get your tattoo from, and see if they would prefer to design their own instead of using my design. Please note: they know what looks best on your skin, I know what looks best on paper.
Will you draw my pets, or a family portrait?
Yes, although I prefer drawing the fluffy members of your family!
I love your work, is there a way to support you?
You can support me on Patreon with a monthly subscription to get early access to art, exclusive content, and special sales. You can support me for free by following me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and subscribing to my monthly newsletter.
Do you provide financing / payment plans?
Yes, please ask!
Process
What materials do you use to make your art?
I always pick the highest quality fine art brands (I did work in an art store for 5 years!). Staedtler pencils, mechanical pencils, erasers. For pens I use Staedtler pigment liners, and Copic markers. Acrylic paints are Golden brand. I also use M Graham oil paint. Most of my brushes are Gold Sable series. Stabilo Carbothello and Faber Castell brand for my chalk pastels. Paper varies on the medium, but my favourite for pen and ink work is Bristol.
How do you digitize your artwork?
I either scan the artwork (if 8x10" or under) at 2000 dpi or higher, or take a photo with my full format mirrorless camera (Sony A7ii), and process in Adobe Photoshop. Digital illustrations created using Procreate and Apple iPad pro.
Who prints your work?
I love these local and Canadian print shops! My greeting cards are printed by Capital Colour or DD Productions in Edmonton, AB. Archival fine art prints are printed at Vivid Print or River Valley Print Co. in Edmonton. Stickers are printed by River Valley Print Co. or Jukebox Print in Vancouver.
How long does it take you to finish your artwork?
Sketches are done within a day, drawings are done within 2-3 days, and paintings can be 3 weeks or more. The more detailed, complex, or larger it is - the longer it takes. Prioritized and scheduled by first-come-first-serve unless rushed (additional charges may apply).
Do you teach art?
Yes I do! I've taught classes (max 5 people), private tutoring, and children above 10 years old. I plan on doing a virtual art night, or recording a tutorial one of these days!
